Lasten kanssa oppii Muumimamman kärsivällisyyden / Kids Bring Out The Moominmamma in You

Muumitalossa herätään kevääseen. Pikku Myyn ja Muumipeikon jälkeen herää Muumimamma.

”Nyt kaikki tarvitsevat kunnon aamiaisen”, hän sanoo lempeän rauhallisella äänellään ja pukee ylleen punavalkoraidallisen essun.

Ollapa kuin Muumimamma. Uudelleen nauhotetuissa Muumilaakson tarinat -jaksoissa Muumimammalle on antanut äänensä Katja Aakkula. Nämä jaksot ovat nähtävissä helmikuun puolivälistä alkaen MTV 3:sen uudessa Cmore-palvelussa.

Tyyni. Viisas. Jalat maassa. Aina positiivinen. Rauhallinen. Luotettava. Turvallinen.

Täydellinen äiti, siis.

Meillä on neljä lasta, kaikki päiväkoti-ikäisiä. En suinkaan aina onnistu olemaan heidän kanssaan tyyni, enkä varmaan viisaskaan.

Mutta juuri nuo Muumimamman ominaisuudet ovat niitä, joita huomaan lasteni minussa kehittäneen. Kun vesilasit kaatuvat lattialle, vaipoista tulevat kakat läpi ja leikkiautot nostavat pintaan ilmiriidan, haluaisi usein itsekin heittäytyä lattialle itkemään ja huutamaan.

Mutta ei auta. Yritän rauhoittaa ääneni tasaiseksi, hidastan liikkeitäni ja koitan saada jokaiseen muksuun katsekontaktin.

”Mikä hätänä?”

Ja sitten ongelmat selvitetään, yksi kerrallaan, mahdollisimman lempeästi.

Jotain Muumimammaa olenkin ehkä onnistunut omaksumaan itseeni.

”Äiti, onko sinulla tänään leivontapäivä?” Esikoiseni kysyy joskus kun häärään keittiössä.
Se lause on suoraan Muumi-kirjasta.

”Now everyone needs a good breakfast,” Moominmamma says with her soothing voice and puts on a white-red striped apron.

I wish I’d be more like Moominmamma.

Calm. Wise. Feet on the ground. Always positive. Trustworthy. Safe.

This is how Katja Aakkula, a Finnish actress who gave her voice to Moominmamma in the remakes of Moomin tv-series, describes her.

Moominmamma, the perfect mother.

We have four kids, all under six. I am not nearly always calm with them, and I am sure I am not always wise.

But then I notice, that it is exactly the characteristics of Moominmamma that my kids have nurtured in me.

When the whole dinner seems to end up on the floor, diapers get over-pooped and every single toy seems to just bring out a fight, I often feel like I’d rather throw myself crying on the floor.

But I can’t. I am a mother. It is then, when I try to lower my voice, calm my movements and find an eye-contact with every one of the kids.

”Now, what’s the problem?”

And then the problems get solved, one by one. As smoothly as possible.

A little tiny bit of those good qualities of Moominmamma maybe have reached me, after all.

”Mom, are you having a day of baking?” My daughter sometimes asks me when I am around the kitchen.

Now, that is a sentence straight from a Moomin book.
